Introduction to Power BI

This tutorial outlines the steps taken in the demonstration during the live workshop on an Introduction to Data Visualization Using Power BI. This is a companion tutorial, but can also be used as a stand-alone introduction to Power BI Desktop.

Set Up and Starting Up

1. Download the 3 example dataset Excel files and save them somewhere on your computer where you can find them, such as your Desktop:
   • AuthorDataCitationGrants.xlsx
   • AuthorDataExperience.xlsx
   • RomeoAndJulietWordFrequenciesByAct.xlsx
2. Make sure you have Power BI installed.
